FAQ

Although I use this DVB-T antenna with amplifier, I don’t receive an image on TV. What can I do?

At first please check if you can receive DVB-T in the city, village, etc. you reside. In Germany you can do this e.g. using the http://www.ueberallfernsehen.de website. Click “Empfangsprognose” (~ reception forecast) and enter the place name or post code. Now you will see a map section in which areas are marked with different colours. Check in which colour your place appears. Depending on the colour, DVB-T cannot be received in this town, village, etc. You either need a roof antenna or an outdoor antenna, an indoor antenna is sufficient as well.

Can the blue LED light be switched off?

The LED light cannot be switched off.

Can this HDMI switch also be used “the other way round”, i.e. for transmitting the signal of a BluRay player to a TV or to a projector?

Yes, this is possible. What we have here is a passive HDMI switch which can also be used “the other way round”. Active HDMI switches transfer signals only in one specified direction.

I have connected the switch but I don’t receive any image. What is the reason for this?

The overall length of a HDMI cable connecting a TV and a player must not exceed 5 metres when manual HDMI switches like this one are used.

I have exchanged the rechargeable batteries supplied with the wireless headphones for new rechargeable batteries but these are not charged. What is the reason for this?

To prevent a user of the wireless headphones from inadvertently inserting non rechargeable standard batteries and from trying to charge them, the battery compartments feature 3 contacts; the supplied rechargeable batteries are slightly modified. If you want to use new / other rechargeable batteries in the wireless headphones you have to modify them as well. Cut off the heatshrinking sleeve which covers the rechargeable battery on the side of the negative terminal at a length of about one centimetre and remove it. The metal sleeve of the rechargeable battery can now be seen at this place. Insert the rechargeable batteries which have been modified in this way in the headphones, they can be charged now.

I have found a code with which some functions of my device can be controlled. Some functions, however, cannot be controlled. Is there a possibility to use the other functions as well?

Also test the other codes which are indicated under the manufacturer name. Device manufacturers sometimes use several similar codes which only differ in details. If you have selected a wrong code, the device can possibly be switched on but the volume adjustment does not function. All functions can be controlled with the right code. If this will bring no success, please use the code search function of the remote control. In many cases identical devices are offered under different brand names. When the code search function is activated, all codes saved in the remote control are tested one after the other until the right code for the device has been found. If you cannot find an appropriate code for your device even after the code search function has been completed, you cannot control this device with this remote control. We continually test our remote controls in specialist shops with current devices and update the code lists with codes from new devices.
If your universal remote control has a learn function, you can read the desired functions in the memory of the universal remote control by means of the original remote control. Afterwards the universal remote control can give out these commands and control your device again.

I have mounted the LNB to a satellite dish and connected the receiver. How do I have to position the dish?

At http://www.thomson-av-accessories.eu or hama.com (under download) you can find an alignment table for satellite dishes with different cities/towns under the respective item number. Search the town/city which is nearest to your place. Now turn the dish on the pole to the direction angle indicated for this town/city (eventually by using a compass) and adjust the angle of elevation indicated in the table by means of the scale on the holder of the satellite dish. Use a satellite level meter or the signal strength display of the receiver for precision adjustment. Adjust the direction angle and the angle of elevation of the satellite dish in a way that the maximum signal strength is displayed. Tighten the screws in turn afterwards. If the screws are tightened on one side, the orientation of the satellite dish can change and the signal strength becomes lower.

Is this HDMI cable 3D compatible?

All HDMI high-speed cables are 3D compatible.

I would like to connect the microphone using an XLR cable of my sound system. Is this possible?

The cabled included in the delivery package of the microphone can be disconnected on the bottom side of the microphone. An XLR connection becomes visible then. Now you can directly connect a cable with an XLR socket to your microphone.

The codes indicated in the code list for the manufacturer of my device do not function for the device I want to control with the remote control. What can I do?

Use the code search function of the remote control. In many cases identical devices are offered under different brand names. The HDMI standard is not indicated for this HDMI cable. Is it HDMI 1.3 or HDMI 1.4?

Since the end of 2010 it is no longer permitted to indicate the HDMI version number for HDMI cables. The transmission speed “Standard” and “High Speed” is used alternatively. If the respective HDMI cable also has an HDMI Ethernet channel, “Ethernet” is possibly indicated as well.

The manufacturer of the device that I want to control with the remote control cannot be found in the code list. What can I do?

Use the code search function of the remote control. In many cases identical devices are offered under different brand names. What does the screening rate signify?

A multilayer shielding around the inner conductor of the coaxial cable makes sure that interference signals from outside only get to the inner conductor in a strongly attenuated way. A screening rate of at least 75 dB is needed for cable television.

With an indoor antenna without amplifier I receive some programmes; the image, however, freezes occasionally or the sound is distorted. When I use your indoor antenna, the reception is worse or no longer possible at all. What is the reason for this?

In all probability the reception in your village, town, etc. is too worse so that you cannot use an indoor antenna. You must use an outdoor antenna or a roof antenna. At first please check if you can receive DVB-T in the city, village etc. you reside and in which quality. In Germany you can do this e.g. using the http://www.ueberallfernsehen.de website. Click “Empfangsprognose” (~ reception forecast) and enter the place name or post code. Now you will see a map section in which areas are marked with different colours.
